Coral polyps, a type of marine organism, generate red coral (Moonga), an organic stone with a deep red colour, in the deep sea. The red coral stone is worn to either benefit from Mars' natal placement in the centre of the chart or to strengthen Mars (Mangal) in a person's horoscope. Red coral typically comes from Japan and Italy. Bright, deep red corals are preferred to faded, dull, or pale corals. The cost of a moonga stone per Ratti rises for jewels of deep, vivid red.
Natural gemstone Oval moonga is easily broken when under pressure. It is therefore bought and sold as cabochon stone in a variety of shapes, such as oval, round, capsule, and triangular. When quality and weight are equalised, triangular stones are more expensive than any other shape. The reason red coral is clear can be attributed to how smooth and deep its exterior is. The gemstones with flaws, pits, and inclusions are the least valuable. Moonga stone, a perfect, vivid red coral, is fairly expensive. The significance of a smooth, scar-free red coral pulling reaching a few carats is diminished by its rarity because red corals are frequently discovered in great quantities.
